Field maple 'Nanum' / Acer campestre 'Nanum'
Field Maple 'Nanum' was introduced to the market in 1839 by Loudon Nurseries, UK. The tree has a truly spherical, very dense crown. The tree grows to a height of up to 6 meters with a width of 2 to 3 meters. 'Nanum' is extremely easy to prune to a dense spherical or block shape. Field maple 'Nanum' blooms in April with relatively undistinguished small yellow-green inflorescences. In April and May, the palmate leaves, divided into lobes, are green with a reddish tinge. In summer, the variety bears brown wing fruits. Because of its compact form, flowering and the number of fruits are small. In autumn, the Field Maple 'Nanum' turns a beautiful golden-yellow color. Due to the dense structure of the branches, the tree is very popular with different species of birds, they like to make their nests in it. Field Maple 'Nanum' can tolerate wind, heat, drought, air pollution, frost, deep shade and road salt well. Therefore, it is a strong variety and a good climatic tree. Because of its peculiar form, the use of the tree is somewhat limited; it is a good tree for gardens and for industrial areas, for example. The field maple 'Nanum' is quite resistant to diseases and easy to maintain.
